Whale and Dolphin watching in Sri Lanka is one of the island's biggest seasonal attractions.
The three main Whale and Dolphin watching areas in Sri Lanka are Mirissa in the south west, Trincomalee in the north east and Kalpitiya on the north western coast.
Sri Lanka is particularly famous for being one of the best places in the world to see blue whales, other species commonly spotted include Sperm Whales and Spinner Dolphins.
Sri Lankan Whale watching season varies depending on the region. On the south coast Mirissa peak season runs from November to April. In Kalpitiya the same season applies, making it another excellent option. Trincomalee on the northern east peak season runs from March to July.
